Scarlatti in Crema: Margherita Torretta’s album, on video
In April 2019 the pianist Margherita Torretta recorded twenty sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti in Crema. We filmed the sessions, with several cameras, 360° and the drone, and turned them into the music video of the Sonata K 492, videos of other sonatas, the album trailer and, until 2022, the posters for her concerts.
In April 2019 the pianist Margherita Torretta recorded twenty keyboard sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti in the Sala Musicale Giardino in Crema, on a Steinway D. The album, Scarlatti — 20 Sonatas, came out in 2020 on Academy Productions, with William Grant Naboré as executive producer and artistic director; the sound engineering, editing and mastering are by Marco Alpi.
We made the pictures.
The sessions, filmed
For three days, from 13 to 15 April, we filmed the sessions: several cameras around the piano, one of them on the keyboard, the 360° camera and the drone. And the stills.
From footage to videos
- October 2019. The music video of the Sonata in D major K 492, edited in 4K, with titles; then two previews of the album.
- December 2019. The videos of the sonatas K 135, K 27 and K 426.
- Between December 2019 and January 2020. The album trailer, with and without subtitles.
- February and March 2020. K 492 in vertical format for Instagram, and K 135 edited from several cameras, with titles.
The posters
The work went on with the concerts. We designed the posters for The Art of the Keyboard, at the Italian Cultural Institute in London on 12 February 2020; the Rai Radio 3 announcement for 15 April 2020, with the album cover; the recital on 15 March 2022 at St James’s, Sussex Gardens, London, with Scarlatti, Galuppi and Chopin.
In 2022 we also filmed the masterclasses of the International Piano Academy Lake Como, including Naboré’s.
