International projects

From Italy to the world.

Some projects have a site of their own. Spin the globe and pick one: each site opens with something to try with your hands.

The Four Turandot

Puccini’s Turandot in four theatres, two performances per city with a double cast, and a different ending in each city. The site opens on the thread of Act III: pull it and choose how the opera ends.

Oriental

The orchestras of Italy’s conservatories at Expo 2025 Osaka, filmed in 360° with immersive audio, and our player to listen from inside, even without a headset. The site opens inside the concert: turn your gaze and the sound turns with you.

UGA Research Partnership

Our research partnership with the University of Georgia, on the software: since 2023 the halls of the Dancz Center rebuilt in virtual reality, then the performers’ faces and movement. It is the method The Four Turandot took to the theatre. Within the partnership Gianmarco holds the title of International Collaborator at UGA.

SPATIA

The proposal for a European platform for emerging artists in spatial sound: music and sound art made for domes and rings of loudspeakers, wave field synthesis and headphones. We are bringing together venues, festivals and studios that want to present these artists and make their works travel. It grows out of The Four Turandot.

What we do

From research to the stage.

In an international project the technical work starts months before the flight and ends months after the return.

01

Scientific responsibility

On behalf of the Nicolini Conservatory we direct the projects: research programme, tests with the partners, coordination of live events and production.

02

360° filming and immersive audio

Ambisonics recordings, microphones with a high number of capsules, 360° cameras up to 11K: music captured as it is in space, in Osaka as in the theatre.

03

Software and virtual reality

The player to listen to an orchestra from inside, even without a headset. The platform to walk through a rebuilt theatre, with its real acoustics.

04

Theatres and performers in 3D

Scanned halls and their impulse responses, the performers’ movement and faces: the Miller Theater in Augusta rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5.

05

Tours and technical riders

A tour starts from what the host theatre needs and what we bring. Augusta, Milan, Daegu, Hangzhou, Osaka.

06

European networks

With SPATIA we are bringing together spatial sound venues, festivals and studios, for a platform to put forward to Creative Europe.
