Piacenza Music Pride: the city’s music journal

Piacenza’s online music journal, running since 2014. Since January 2024 its newsroom has worked inside the Nicolini Conservatory’s communication team, which we coordinate: 705 articles since then, about one for every working day.

Researchers’ Night: the Miller Theater in Augusta, on headphones

On 25 September 2026, in the former Carmine church in Piacenza, we brought The Four Turandot to the European Researchers’ Night: with a joystick and a pair of headphones you could walk through the stalls of the Miller Theater in Augusta while Calaf sings «Nessun dorma», with the hall’s real acoustics. The sound comes from an audio renderer we developed.

Four days of dance, music and the spoken word in a dozen venues across Piacenza. We handled the technical direction, and were inside the evening that put the audience in the orchestra’s place: Xavier Le Roy’s Le Sacre du Printemps.

Gianmarco Romiti was one of the three curators; we designed and installed the sound: ten loudspeakers along the hall and a 16.2-channel listening room. More than eight thousand visitors.

XNL Aperto 2025: three days of contemporary art, opened by an evening of listening at the Nicolini

From 19 to 21 September 2025, the fourth edition of XNL Aperto, XNL Piacenza’s contemporary art festival spread across the city and the province. Gianmarco coordinated it together with Paola Nicolin and Paola Pedrazzini; it opened with a sound performance at the Nicolini Conservatory, with XNL Musica.

Oriental: a concert at Expo 2025 Osaka, to listen to from the inside

The orchestras of Italy’s conservatories filmed in Japan in 360°, with immersive audio. And a player we wrote ourselves to choose what to listen to, down to a single instrument.

On 6 July 2025, for the finale of the MusicMediale festival, the façade of the Nicolini Conservatory came alive with a projection mapping curated by Ali Hosseini, Gianmarco Romiti and Riccardo Dapelo: abstract, geometric images fused with an electronic soundtrack.

XNL Musica: four rooms for electronic music and jazz, opened by Ryoichi Kurokawa

From 2023 to 2024 we directed the XNL Musica project, on level -1 of XNL Piacenza: rooms by Boxy System, with an ambisonic room of sixteen loudspeakers arranged in a sphere, a control room, a jazz room and a hall for ensemble music. On 3 May 2024 they were opened by Ryoichi Kurokawa: 350 seats sold out in three days.

Almost two thousand shots: the Nicolini’s concerts in photographs

In 2022 and 2023 we photographed thirty-five concerts and events of the Nicolini Conservatory: 1,947 photos for the website, social media and the archive. And between 2025 and 2026, the New Sisters choir.

Between 2022 and 2023 we designed and built the website of the Piacenza Conservatory: official notice board and transparency, studies, events, library, room booking. Three years on, it is still its website.

Concert Hall 2.0 and the network linking the Nicolini’s rooms

From 2021 to 2022 we coordinated the rebuild of the concert hall’s control room, with a Dante audio network reaching every room; between 2023 and 2024 the fibre. The next step: the same network all the way to XNL Musica.

Funding calls: how the Nicolini has renewed its technology since 2020

Since 2020 we have followed the Conservatory’s ministerial and European funding calls in the areas we know, from writing the project to carrying it out: digital teaching, the concert hall, digital public administration, XNL Musica, the international projects.

We set it up in 2020, specifically for the Conservatory, and it is still there: today it manages 44 rooms across six sites, XNL Musica included, and about seven hundred and fifty users.

IMB: machines for panel builders, in photos and on video

From 2019 to 2025 we photographed and filmed the machines made by IMB, which has been building tools for electrical panel builders and installers in Busseto since 1976: photos for the catalogue, thirteen product videos with the graphics of their YouTube channel and, in 2025, a photo shoot in the workshop.

In 2019 Gianmarco was touring a 360° installation: basilicas, palaces, the Pietra Parcellara and the woods of the Val Trebbia to walk through with a headset. The local daily Libertà interviewed him. It is where the road to Oriental and The Four Turandot begins.

Record, tell, publish: communication at the Nicolini Conservatory

Since 2017 we have recorded the Nicolini’s concerts and published them; since the end of 2023 we have coordinated its communication office. At the start of 2025 the Conservatory’s YouTube channel had more than 438,000 views.

Since 2016 we have been the technology department of the Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza: support, recordings, the room booking software, the concert hall, the website, communication, XNL Musica, funding calls and international projects. Ten years, in order.
