IMB: machines for panel builders, in photos and on video

From 2019 to 2025 we photographed and filmed the machines made by IMB, which has been building tools for electrical panel builders and installers in Busseto since 1976: photos for the catalogue, thirteen product videos with the graphics of their YouTube channel and, in 2025, a photo shoot in the workshop.

The digital readout of an IMB drilling machine shows 285.60: below it, the stop sliding along the graduated rail; behind, out of focus, the orange side of the machine.

IMB, Industrie Meccaniche Busseto, was born in 1976 in a garage in Busseto, in the province of Parma. It builds machines and tools for electrical panel builders and installers under the IMB Multifor brand: they cut and punch DIN rails, drill cable ducts, boxes and cabinet panels, and cut, punch and bend copper bars.

They are machines you understand by watching them work. That is why, since 2019, we have been telling their story in pictures: photos first, then videos.

Photos for the catalogue

Our first job, in 2019, was the catalogue photography: the machines shot in the studio, then post-production. A second shoot followed in 2021, together with the videos.

Six videos in 2020

We filmed at their premises over two mornings, in December 2019 and February 2020: several cameras around the machines at work. Then editing and colour, graphics and titles, a logo animation for the opening and the ending, and the YouTube channel set up: the brand image, the end screens, the video thumbnails.

The first two videos came out on 28 February 2020: the 7001 manual and 7009 battery punching cylinders for cable ducts. In April and May came the four TagliaDin, the machines that cut and punch DIN rails: the 9058, 9056 and 9050, manual, and the 9054, hydraulic.

Six more in 2021

In 2021 photos and videos went hand in hand. In January and February the 9032 cable cutting shears, the 9023 punching cylinder for flat and angular bars, the 9020 for flexible bars and the 9070E cordless punching cylinder; in the summer the 9047 portable bar bender and the TRIS 9042 work unit, which cuts, punches and bends copper bars.

Thirteen video thumbnails, a large one at the top left and twelve small ones around it: each with the IMB logo, the machine’s code and name on a grey striped panel, and the cut-out machine on an orange wavy background.
The thumbnails of the thirteen videos: the latest, from 2025, in large, and around it the twelve from 2020 and 2021. We designed the graphics.

By September 2026 the thirteen videos had passed 31,000 views together; the one for the 7009 battery punching cylinder has passed 11,000 on its own. For machines designed for one specific trade, that is a real audience.

The look of the videos, from the titles to the thumbnails with the machine on an orange background, is ours from the first to the last: it has become the face of the channel.

2025: the studio in the workshop

On 10 May 2025 we went back to the workshop with the camera, for a hydraulic drilling machine. We set up the studio next to the workbench: a white panel behind the machine, held up by hand. More than 150 shots, the whole machine and the details: the digital position readout, the cylinder with the logo, the punch and the die.

In October the thirteenth video came out too, the 9052 pneumatic TagliaDin.

An orange hydraulic drilling machine on a workshop bench; behind it, a large white panel held up by hand; around it, the shop floor with shelves and trolleys.
The shot in the workshop: the machine on the bench, the white panel behind it.
The same orange machine cut out on a white background: the cylinder, the clear guard, the long rail in the foreground.
The same photo after post-production: the machine cut out on white, without the bench and without the wooden block.
Close-up of the punch, marked IMB ITALY with a 50.5 diameter, above the black die marked IMB ITALY 10133; a steel profile runs between them.
Punch and die, with the IMB mark.

They are all on IMB Multifor’s YouTube channel.

There are no conservatories or stages here: there are machines for industry. The method, though, is the same as in the rest of our work on this page: understand what an object is for, and show it to the people who will use it.
