The Nicolini Conservatory’s website
Between 2022 and 2023 we designed and built the website of the Piacenza Conservatory: official notice board and transparency, studies, events, library, room booking. Three years on, it is still its website.
Between 2022 and 2023 we designed and built the website of the Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza: conservatorionicolini.com. Three years on it is still its website, and the address the Conservatory prints at the top of its letters.
A site that speaks to many people
On any given day, a conservatory’s website serves people looking for very different things. The teenager preparing for the entrance exam, the family checking the fees, the teacher looking at the calendar, the Erasmus student arriving from the other side of the world, the company looking for a call for tenders, the audience who wants to know when the concert starts.
And some of the pages are required by law, in the exact place the law wants them: for a public body, the official notice board (albo pretorio) and the transparency section (amministrazione trasparente) are not optional.
How it is built
A few menu items, each with a clear audience:
- Conservatory: its history, the artistic calendar, events, the blog, the official notice board and the transparency section;
- Studies: courses, study regulations, academic calendar, teachers, masterclasses;
- International: Erasmus+ and the mobility of students and staff;
- Library: catalogues, digital resources and historical collections, opening hours and contacts;
- Services: room booking, the Wi-Fi network, a private area.
From the home page, six buttons lead straight to where almost everyone is going: news, notice board, admissions, events, rooms, study plans. At the top you switch language, between Italian, English and Chinese.
After the website
Since then our work with the Nicolini has not stopped: today we look after the Conservatory’s IT and technology support and its multifunction printers, and we hold scientific responsibility for two EU-funded (PNRR) projects, The Four Turandot and Oriental.
A conservatory’s website is its first front office, open day and night. It is now one of the jobs we offer to other conservatories: websites for conservatories.
