Audio service 2021 — 2024 completed

Concert Hall 2.0 and the network linking the Nicolini’s rooms

From 2021 to 2022 we coordinated the rebuild of the concert hall’s control room, with a Dante audio network reaching every room; between 2023 and 2024 the fibre. The next step: the same network all the way to XNL Musica.

The Nicolini’s Salone, empty, seen from the stalls: the organ, the stage with the pianos, the truss with lights and hanging microphones, the loudspeakers on the walls.

The Salone is the Nicolini Conservatory’s concert hall. From spring 2021 to summer 2022 we coordinated its technology rebuild, together with Newside s.r.l.: all the connectivity, designed and built from scratch, and the audio and video equipment, installed and programmed, for a control room that runs events to the highest standards. The funds came from the 2021 ministerial call DM 734.

Dante, from every room

The heart of the project is the unified Dante network: audio travels digitally over the network, and the control room can be run from every room of the Conservatory, not only from the hall. A concert can be recorded in one room and produced in another, without laying a single cable.

The fibre

After the hall we designed the evolution of the Conservatory’s networks: feasibility studies with Lepida and, between 2023 and 2024, the laying of fibre, removing the old cabling and routing the new.

The next step

In 2024 we wrote the project to bring the same network all the way to XNL Musica: internet and Dante joined between the two sites, to record and produce from one to the other.
