Festival MusicMediale 2025: the fourth edition, from the Municipale to the cloister

From 21 June to 6 July 2025: a chamber opera at the Teatro Municipale, concerts, immersive installations in the XNL Musica Ambisonic Room, a masterclass on artificial intelligence and a projection-mapping finale. The artistic coordination is ours.

From 21 June to 6 July 2025 the fourth edition of the Festival MusicMediale, the Nicolini Conservatory’s series devoted to contemporary music, sound experimentation and digital languages, crossed Piacenza: a chamber opera in its world premiere, concerts, immersive installations, open lectures, a panel, a masterclass and a projection-mapping finale.

We looked after the festival’s artistic coordination, with Gianmarco Romiti as artistic coordinator. The finale’s projection mapping we signed together with Ali Hosseini and Riccardo Dapelo.

The programme

  • 29 June to 3 July — two installations: Ali Hosseini’s E tu? at Spazio ’694, on artificial intelligence and art, and Alice Brunelli’s Voci silenziate in the church of Sant’Ilario, on violence against women.
  • 1 July — the panel on applied research in music, with the PhD students Luca Frigo and Andrea Losi, in the hall of the Fondazione di Piacenza e Vigevano.
  • 4 and 5 July — Artemi Maria Gioti’s masterclass on artificial intelligence that plays with musicians, at XNL Musica; on the evening of the 5th her concert BIAS in the Conservatory’s Salone, with Charen de Carolis at the piano and Alice Brunelli on bass clarinet.
  • 6 July — the finale in the Conservatory’s cloister: Fanfare for the Horses Square for double quintet and percussion, then the façade in projection mapping.

The finale

On the evening of 6 July the Conservatory’s façade came alive with abstract, geometric images, fused with an electronic soundtrack. We tell it separately, with the photos: MusicMediale 2025, the Nicolini’s façade in projection mapping.

The year after, the festival grew again: MusicMediale 2026, ten days across galleries and theatres, from Piacenza to Milan.
