Ten years at the Nicolini Conservatory
Since 2016 we have been the technology department of the Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza: support, recordings, the room booking software, the concert hall, the website, communication, XNL Musica, funding calls and international projects. Ten years, in order.
We have worked with the Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza since 2016. In ten years the studio has become its technology department: Gianmarco is the Conservatory’s head of technology and coordinates XNL Musica, its branch inside XNL Piacenza.
Every assignment went through a tender, published on the public administration’s e-marketplace and open to every company in the sector. Working with the same institution for so many years has let us tailor a service that can only be learned from the inside.
Year by year
- 2016. Work with the Conservatory begins.
- 2017. We start recording concerts and publishing them.
- 2020. The room booking software, written for the Nicolini and still in use. And the first of the funding calls we followed.
- 2021–2022. Concert Hall 2.0: the new control room and the Dante audio network linking every room.
- 2022–2023. The institution’s new website.
- 2023. The virtual reality research with the University of Georgia, the fibre network, the technology upgrade plan, the communication office.
- 2023–2024. XNL Musica, from the design to the opening with Ryoichi Kurokawa.
- 2024. Piacenza Music Pride passes to the Conservatory, and its newsroom to us.
- 2025. The leased multifunction printers, Oriental at Expo 2025 Osaka, the new three-year support and website contract, the coordination of XNL Musica and, in September, XNL Aperto.
- 2026. The Four Turandot in four theatres on three continents, the video kit, the Atmos room, Le Sacre du Printemps in the concert hall.
What it means, every day
- Two people on site full time, every day, often beyond working hours: workstations, office and teaching networks, backups, faults, training, dealings with suppliers.
- The institution’s accounts: the Google console for the whole Conservatory, certified email, domains.
- The technology department: equipment loans to teachers and students, maintenance, live streams of exams.
- With the offices and the management: time clocks with Zucchetti, the documents for the evaluation board, meetings with the State Accounting Office.
- With teaching and research: the design of the doctoral programmes, Erasmus, European Researchers’ Night from 2022 to 2024, the library’s Petrassi database, published on the website, and the Fondazione Scuola Patrimonio for the institution’s cultural outreach.
